Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are embroiled in a heated dispute following an attack on an NIA team during a raid related to a 2022 bomb blast case in West Bengal's Midnapore district.
NIA refutes allegations, TMC continues accusations
PM Modi accuses the Trinamool Congress of undermining the Constitution and shielding corrupt leaders, alleging that the party attacks central agencies like the NIA when they operate in West Bengal. He claimed that the TMC, along with the Left and Congress, formed the INDI Alliance to protect corrupt leaders.
In response, Mamata Banerjee accused central agencies such as the NIA, ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department of acting as BJP's "arms" to harass TMC leaders. She claimed these agencies were pressuring TMC members to join BJP or face consequences. The NIA rejected TMC's claims, stating their actions were lawful and part of an investigation into a bomb explosion that resulted in fatalities in 2022. They denied any ill intentions in the raids.

Despite NIA's statement, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee persisted, alleging an "unholy alliance" between NIA and BJP. He questioned whether BJP's Jitendra Tiwari met an NIA official during election rules, insinuating impropriety.
BJP responds to Mamata's allegations
In retaliation, the state BJP accused Mamata Banerjee of feeling threatened by issues like unemployment and corruption, alleging she is trying to incite violence against central agencies with her remarks.
The clash between PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee escalated after the NIA raid, with allegations of political motives and coercion flying from both sides. The NIA maintains its actions were legal, while the TMC continues to accuse central agencies of bias and unfair targeting. The BJP, in turn, accuses Mamata Banerjee of attempting to deflect attention from pressing issues in the state.
